Emergency Procedures

You will be aware through the media that New Zealand schools have been the target of random bomb threat messages and yesterday, several Wellington Colleges were targeted.

We would like to assure you that St Mary’s College has procedures in place should we ever receive such a threat. We take these threats very seriously and our students’ safety is paramount.

In the event of a bomb threat, we will evacuate the students from the school and we will hold them on Parliament grounds until such time as the Police give us the all-clear to return to our campus.

As soon as we are able to safely do-so, an email will be sent to all parents notifying you of the evacuation. There will be instructions to follow in the email. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO ST MARYS COLLEGE OR PHONE THE OFFICE.

On our return to the campus you will be notified and classes will continue as usual. The students will be fully informed about what happened and any pastoral care or counselling needs for the students will be provided.
