Wellington Speaking Union Debating

Debating is an academic sport where students engage in structured arguments on a range of topics relevant to New Zealand and the wider world. The discipline encourages them to broaden their understanding of world issues and develop confidence in public speaking. The Wellington Speaking Union Inter-collegiate debating competition has almost finished. Congratulations to all debaters on a successful debating season. The Junior Premier team is the remaining team who are still participating in the Wellington Speaking Union competition. Congratulations to Catherine Ramoo, Aria Ngarimu and Samantha Samaniego winners of the Quarter-Final debate against Tawa College affirming the moot: That we should ban private schools. This team, coached by Mrs Genevieve Herder, has now made it through to the Semi-Final stage of their grade. We wish them all the best.
