The Proprietor Board, St Mary’s College Wellington represents Nga Whaea Atawhai o
Aotearoa Sisters of Mercy New Zealand as partners in their mission. It is responsible, under
the Integration Act 1975 for two key areas, namely:
the supervision, preservation and safe-guarding of the Special Catholic Character and
Mercy Charism of St Mary’s College, Wellington and
the development and implementation of strategy for capital works and maintenance
of St Mary’s College, Wellington.
We are looking for additional Directors to join the Board; applicants of good character who
demonstrate integrity and honesty in all aspects of their lives, who are passionate advocates
of quality education for young women, and who are able to uphold the Catholic Character of
the College. You will have suitable experience, knowledge and skills to bring to the Board
table, will be willing to undertake ongoing professional development, and commit to
attending the monthly meetings of the Board.
The Board would be particularly interested in hearing from you if you have:
Strong connections to Maori and or Pacifica communities
Marketing, Public Relations or Communications experience
Construction or Property Management expertise
Whilst the St Mary’s College Proprietor Board is a voluntary Board, it does offer you an
opportunity to engage in Mercy Governance, a professional development partnership with
the New Zealand Institute of Directors, and to work in this worthwhile but challenging
environment with a group of hard-working, dynamic people who are committed to ensuring
the best outcomes for the students and staff of St Mary’s College.
