Debating

Debating is one of the most rewarding activities you can do at St Mary’s College. Here’s why:

Debating sharpens your analytical skills and your ability to speak publically. You will learn to argue one side of a case while taking into consideration the counter argument.
Debating offers you important argumentative and persuasion skills, which ultimately help you later on in life, especially in career paths that require this form of activity, such as politics or marketing.
Debating teaches how to be an effective speaker, using language in a fluent and clear manner to be understood by your audience. Skills like this are needed to prepare you for tomorrow's world.
Debating enables you to meet new people, make new friends and become part of a vibrant and inclusive community.
