St Mary’s College seeks to provide a caring, happy environment where young women are supported to develop their full potential. Our pastoral care aims to enhance each student’s academic, spiritual, social, cultural and physical development. It is concerned with student wellbeing. Pastoral Care seeks to provide the students with the resilience needed to manage their present lives and to prepare them for their future in an ever changing society.
In the light of the Gospel and the spirit of Catherine McAuley Pastoral Care is concerned with the whole school community. In times of joy and suffering the College reaches out to one another with the care and compassion of aroha.
Positive Behaviour for Learning – PB4L
St Mary’s College is a Positive Behaviour for Learning School-wide College, which focuses on the prevention of problem behaviour by creating a positive learning environment and by providing clear expectations of behaviour in all settings. Staff and students follow the ‘STAR’ expectations: Strive to Succeed; Take the Challenge; Ako in Action; Respect our Values. These expectations seek to encourage all to develop a high level of self-respect and self-esteem and as a consequence an attitude of respect for others in the school community
